NSW Road Racing Club

The right place to race!

NSWRRC Championship

The NSW Road Racing Club Championship is one of the oldest and longest running championships in Australia and dates back to our clubs very beginning as the Singer Car Club of Australia. It is almost as old as the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC now discontinued) and the Great Race, the Bathurst 1000. It has always been a driver’s championship, a test skill and machine where friendly but fierce battles on the track have led to some great finishes and some surprising victories.

Club members held the NSW Road Racing Club Championship shield, now the ‘Bob Langbridge Shield’ as the Holy Grail of their club level motorsport. Memorable cars like EH Holden’s along with Ford Escort’s, the mighty GT Falcons and XU-1 Torana’s have propelled their drivers to championship history. In recent years it has been cars such as

Toyota powered Clubman’s, Honda Preludes and Nissan Pulsar’s etc that have been driven to top honors.

Many have had their name on the shield over the years and a few have managed it twice however in 53 years of club competition only 1 family has had a succession - Kerry & Paige Butchers and only 2 people have conquered the club championship 3 times. They’re all there in the Champion’s listing here on our clubs website. I suggest you take time to look at our clubs best and realise the history and privilege it is to compete for this shield.

Every year the struggle for those involved in the championship has been immense with highs and lows that you cannot imagine unless you have been a part of it.

Jump forward to 2019! The championship battles and comradery of years gone by are set re-ignite with the most challenging championship seen in many years. It will be as close to an old school ATCC as we can get with an L2S license.

A new age in our clubs championship is about to unfold and the clubs committee are hoping all our members will be excited enough to compete in this year’s championship. Events have been carefully chosen, car classes have reverted back to what they use to be opening the way for extremely close competition again, the rules have returned to normal and there is an eye to detail across the whole championship. It will once again be a true driver’s championship.

The competition will be stronger, the challenges tougher, the format will be different and the rewards will be greater!

Its time to clean and tune the car and get ready for an amazing

2019 Championship year!
